Able Community Care was established in 1980 offering a true alternative for older and disabled people who did not wish to move into a residential care home but wished to remain living in their own home.

Our Live-in Care Service was based on supplying Live-in Care Workers who would move into a person’s home and provide domestic support, assistance with personal care and companionship. The live-in period for each Carer would be two weeks and the objectives were to provide a rotational system of Care Workers whom our clients were happy to receive support from.

Able Community Care only provides Live-in Care Services and to date we have provided more than 70 million hours of care to our clients who are based throughout the UK and The Channel Islands.

One of our clients in Tyne and Wear is George who is 90+ years of age. In 2016 due to failing health he realised that if he wished to continue living in his own home, continuing with his favourite hobbies and enjoying other social activities which were important to him, he would need the support of 24/7 care workers.

Able Community Care was chosen and since 2016 we have provided George with a continuous Live-in Care Service by introducing a rotational system of Care Workers whom he feels happy and comfortable with and who provide him with the support he needs.

All the Carers introduced by Able Community Care have at least one years professional training in a care setting and this is verified by us by written references and telephone verification. All Carers have an up to date DBS certification (formerly Criminal Record Check CRB) and regularly update and refresh their training.

We personally interview every potential Carer who has passed our initial recruitment stage and do not conduct Skype, Facetime or telephone interviews. We do not recruit Care Workers from outside agencies in the UK or internationally.

Many of our Live-in Carers have been working through the company for more than ten years, many over twenty years.

Each of our clients has a named Care Manager, we operate our own ‘On Call’ system and we are contactable 24 hours a day throughout the entire year.

In addition to providing our Live-in Care services we provide Home from Hospital Care, Respite Care and can accompany Tyne and Wear residents who need care on holidays of their choice.
