Live-in Convalescent Care

Disabled lady with live-in carer

There is a growing need for live-in convalescent care.

Current pressures on the NHS mean many people are discharged from hospital too early and return home without the appropriate care arrangements in place or will not be able to get the home visits they need from their local GP.

Convalescent care homes used to provide the in-between care and district nurses made regular rounds to ensure patients made a full recovery at home before resuming their normal lives.

This convalescence period would help build independence, aid recuperation and in the case of the old convalescent home would enable care staff to monitor the recovery process, allowing the patient to return home safely and get back to normal after one or two weeks.

Sadly, convalescent homes and district nurses have now almost disappeared and the consequence is the increasing trend for hospital re-admissions.

National statistics show, especially where older patients are concerned, the re-admission figures are high with many having to return to the hospital within a month.

What we can do for you.

Able Community Care can provide convalescent care at home through our Live-in Convalescent Care Service. Once we are given the go-ahead, we can provide a live-in care service to help support convalescence, recovery and rehabilitation with the purpose of getting back to a normal level of independence and well-being.

The benefits of our service

  • Help with all domestic duties in the home, such as general cleaning, laundry, shopping, preparing meals, etc.

  • Help with personal care, bathing, showering and dressing.

  • A live-in carer removes the risk of being on their own in the early days of recovery and provides companionship.

  • Live-in carers can assist and work with physiotherapists, dietitians, community nursing and all members of your care team, helping you make a safe and stable return to good health.

  • Helping you gradually recover your social life. For example, by accompanying you to go shopping, attend local events, to visit a favourite restaurant or resume attendance at a local group or church.
