Care News

Walsall Homecare has been acquired by the Claimar Care Group. The Claimar Care Group is one of the largest providers of domiciliary care services to local authorities throughout the Midlands and the North-West. Walsall Homecare Ltd currently has about 50 care workers.

Healthcare Homes Group Ltd have acquired PriMed Groups 8 homes, a total of 280 beds. PriMeds homes are based in Suffolk.

The Independent Care Group (ICG) body based in North Yorkshire represents care providers in the area.

The ICG called a meeting in March, to which 125 providers across the spectrum of care attended, to protest at the rate North Yorkshire County Council was offering as an increase in care rates.

The rates offered were under 3 percent which has been rebuffed by the care providers who estimate their costs have gone up by 6.8 percent. The minimum wage increase and the increasing cost of CRBs are having a major influence on the care providers costs.

The decision at the meeting was to raise a protest petition to central Government. This is in line with other national care associations who have issued a warning to local authorities that the proposed fees increase for 2006/2007 are totally unacceptable.
