A new website http://www.adaptedvehiclehire.com has gone online which will be of interest to disabled motorists and their carers.

The website gives information about a wide range of factors connected with adapted vehicles and the vehicles, ranging from small cars to 4x4�s can be booked online. Car hire can range from a day, a month or longer.


The care home operator Southern Cross is up for sale. The company is still hoping to come to an agreement with it�s landlords as the preferred option. The company has 31,000 residents in its care homes.


Agency Workers Regulations
New guidance has been published re the rules which come in from 1st October 2011. Agency workers, after 12 weeks in the same job, will be entitled to the same basic employment and working conditions as if they had been directly recruited. For further information download the following pdf document:

The Paralympics first started in 1948 when Ludwig Guttmann organized a sports competition which involved World War 2 veterans that had spinal injuries.

Afterwards a similar event was organized in Toronto, Canada where different disability groups were added and the idea of merging together and taking part in athletic sports was a success.

The number of athletes participating in Summer Paralympic Games have increased from 400 athletes from 23 countries in Rome in 1960 to 3806 athletes from 136 countries in Athens in 2004. Read more:
